About the QR Code Generator
QR codes encode text, URLs, or other data into a scannable image that any modern smartphone camera can read instantly — useful for sharing links, Wi-Fi credentials, contact details, or any short text without requiring the recipient to type it out.
This tool generates a QR code from any text you enter and lets you download it as a PNG image.
How it works
- Type or paste the text, URL, or data you want to encode into the input box.
- The QR code preview updates automatically as you type.
- Click Download to save the QR code as a PNG image you can print or share.
Common use cases
- Sharing a link on printed materials: Generating a QR code for a website URL to include on a flyer, business card, or product packaging.
- Sharing Wi-Fi credentials: Encoding a Wi-Fi network's SSID and password in the standard `WIFI:` format so a guest can join by scanning instead of typing a password.
- Linking to a document or form: Creating a scannable QR code that opens a specific form URL, useful for quick access points like event check-ins.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a limit to how much text a QR code can hold?
QR codes can technically hold up to a few thousand characters, but very long content produces a denser, harder-to-scan code — for reliable scanning, shorter content (like a URL rather than a full paragraph) works best, especially at smaller print sizes.
Will the QR code still work if I resize the downloaded image?
Yes — QR codes are scannable at a wide range of sizes as long as the image isn't scaled down so much that individual squares become indistinguishable to a camera; when printing, keep the code at least about 2cm (0.75in) per side for reliable scanning.
Does this tool track who scans the generated QR codes?
No — the QR code simply encodes the exact text you entered as a static image; there's no tracking, redirect, or analytics layer added by this tool. If you want scan analytics, you'd need to encode a URL from a link-shortening service that provides that separately.
Can I generate a QR code for a phone number or email address?
Yes — standard formats like `tel:+1234567890` or `mailto:[email protected]` will be encoded as entered, and most phones will recognize these prefixes and offer to call or email directly when scanned.
